Tortilla Flat Campground, March 5 thru 9th. Take Rt. 88 from Apache Junction and follow it until you come to Canyon Lake Marina on the left. Go 1-2 miles past the marina and on the left across from Tortilla Flat Restaurant is the campground. It is gravel sites with water and sewer, picnic tables, fire rings and there are flush toilets. They are all level sites on 3 different levels. You must obtain Tonto Pass which is available online ( http://www.fs.fed.us/r3/tonto/tp/index.shtml ) or call the Ranger station on the Tonto National Forest website ( http://www.fs.fed.us/r3/tonto/home.shtml ). If you have National Passport it is only $3 a night and $6 if you do not have it. Generators can be run from 6am to 10pm. The restaurant is in easy walking distance from campground and they have good food and a bar with saddle stools. Real neat. There is also ice cream and candy store there. Betty has suggested a dessert "potluck" as it seems everyone enjoyed the soup so much at the recent Quartzsite gathering. We can also do drinks and snacks in the afternoon one day.
THIS IS AN INFORMAL AFFAIR WITH NO PLANNED EVENTS . Just a fun gathering. Lots of hiking if that pleases you and also you can drive your vehicle on Apache Trail to Roosevelt Lake which turns into dirt at some point so Casita's will not do well on the trail!!! Website has all the information.
